Below is an overview of the most common errors codes when starting a transaction with the Rabo Smart Pay.

  • Error 5005: Payment Method

This error incidates that there is no active payment method for this transaction on the Rabo Smart Pay account. Contact the Rabo Smart Pay support team to check your account/methods status.
Please note: It may take some time before payment methods become active.

- iDEAL: approximately 48 hours.
- Credit card/Bancontact: 10 business days.

These timeframes start from the moment the contract is signed.

  • Error 5001: Signing

This error code indicates that an invalid signature or a missing signature was sent in the request to the Rabo Smart Pay. This may be related to an incorrect signing key, for example, in the payment environment.
The server time could also be causing the issue, so please check it carefully. If the server time is incorrect, contact your hosting provider.
If this does not resolve the issue, the problem will need to be investigated using the logs. Please send the logs containing this error message to PayoCity.

OR

  • Error 5001: Authentication

The order request was rejected because of an incorrect access token. The token may have expired or may have been received incorrectly.
We can certainly check this for you. However, the issue could also be related to an inactive account. To confirm this, we recommend contacting Rabo Smart Pay first at:
030 – 213 13 11

  • Error 5017: Content

This error indicates that the contents of the request have been rejected. There are several possible causes, including the following:

- Invalid merchantReturnUrl: The issue may be related to the URL itself (check the logs) or to the Top-Level Domain (TLD) being used. The .shop TLD is currently still being rejected. Rabobank has already approved many other TLDs.
- Invalid merchantOrderId: The error message "merchantOrderId should only contain alphanumeric characters" indicates that the merchantOrderId contains a character that is not permitted. The allowed characters are letters of the alphabet (both lowercase and uppercase) and numbers from 0 to 9.
- Validation Error: "amount is required and must consist of digits only" indicates that either the amount was empty, or contained characters that are not allowed. The Rabo Smart Pay expects the amount as an INT, with the amount in cents.

  • Error 5021: Payment Method Force

Example error message: "order could not be restricted to VISA, POI with id # can only be restricted to payment brands: BANCONTACT, IDEAL"
This error means that a request is being made to use a Visa card as the payment method, but Rabobank indicates that Visa cannot be used.
In this example, Visa is not enabled on the account, whereas Bancontact and iDEAL are enabled.

  • Error 5024: Payment Method inactive

This error message indicates that the chosen payment method has not yet been activated for your account in the Smart Pay environment.
